Loreto Convent ,Shimla

“A leader is best when people barely know he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves.”
I firmly believe that the true function of leadership is not to create mere followers but to nurture trailblazers who will have the courage and wisdom to take the world forward. As John Quincy Adams wisely said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.”
We are privileged to be pupils of Loreto Convent, an institution with a rich legacy of 133 years. A school that has transformed education for girls and dismantled the myths surrounding it. A shining example of this vision is our esteemed Principal, Mrs. Reetu Sharma, whose dedication continues to inspire us every day.
It is a great honour for me to assume the mantle as the Captain of Amartya Sen House. I step into this role, not just as an individual, but as a manifestation of the guidance, support, and wisdom imparted by our Principal and our incredible faculty. They have shaped me into a better version of myself with just the perfect alchemy of chalk and challenges.
Each day unfolds as a canvas of boundless possibilities, to expand our horizons, to foster personal growth, and to effect meaningful change. To my peers, I propose that we collectively harness these opportunities, transcending perceived limitations, delving into our untapped potential, succouring one another during difficult times and walking on a path of self discovery. We must believe that we are gifted for something and no matter the obstacles, must strive to achieve it. As history has shown, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
I assure you that I will strive to be a leader who listens, a friend who understands, and a student who upholds the values of our school. Together, in collaboration, let’s make this year one of growth, unity, and excellence.

“Leadership is based on inspiration, not dominance, on cooperation and not intimidation”, as rightly said by William Arthur Wood.
Being adorned with the title of Vice Captain- Amartya Sen, I am extremely grateful and aware of the profound responsibilities and privilege this role entails. Today, I am reminded of the famous quote by Mufasa in the movie ‘The Lion King’, “A leader protects their pride.” As your Vice-Captain, my “pride” is my team—the people who trust me to guide, support, and stand by them. True leadership is about lifting others up, even when the path gets tougher than ever… Together, we shall stand tall in the face of adversities, for we are destined to rise above every challenge confidently that comes our way. All we require is collaboration, resilience, compassion, determination and most importantly a vision to turn it all into an accomplishment of shared goals. As our first priority, we must conscientiously envision, engage, energize and execute! I will always have an optimistic approach and a heart filled with humility and passion while on, or off duty. As a team, we shall reach beyond the stars, embracing every opportunity coming our way! Let’s celebrate each victory, learn from our setbacks, and pave our own way to success!

The role of a true leader is to recognize the future and to secure it. Being elected as the Captain of Ashok House gives me immense pleasure. With power comes great responsibility. I promise to do complete justice to my responsibilities and rise above expectations. A goal is attained by the 3 C’s i.e., cooperation, collaboration and cohesive behavior. We as team will work very hard to achieve excellence. I would like to thank our Respected Principal Mrs. Reetu Sharma, respected teachers and my fellow housemates for trusting me and having faith in me. Actions speak louder than words and so will our hard work. I also resolve to keep up to the high ideals of Loreto, its duty and the utmost important aspect that is Truth. I will always be true to myself, my school, teachers and fellow schoolmates. I am sure that with everyone’s cooperation, guidance and assistance we will make a better tomorrow and a brighter future. ‘Anyone can dream, anyone can believe but everybody together can achieve’. This is what I believe in and will continue to as this is what gives me the enthusiasm to keep the Loreto banner flying high.

EMBRACING GROWTH, EXCELLENCE AND UNITY

I write this with immense gratitude and pride as a proud student of Loreto Convent Tara Hall. Each one of us is on a journey of growth filled with challenges and triumphs. There will be moments when doubts creep in, obstacles may seem insurmountable or success may seem out of reach but every challenge teaches, every failure guides, and every effort leads to success. Let’s support one another, uplift each other and stand together in times of adversity. School is not just a place of learning, it is the foundation where dreams take shape, minds are ignited and leaders are born. Thus, Dream Fearlessly, Work Relentlessly, Believe and Unshakably in your Potential.

Embracing newer responsibilities: leaving no stone unturned. As John Maxwell, rightly said, “Leadership is not about titles or positions or flow charts. It is about one life influencing the other.” As I have been given the responsibility of being the Vice Captain of Mary ward house ,I resonate with this quote today more than ever as the possibility of being capable enough to influence dawns upon me. I take up this responsibility as a testament to our efforts while leading together for a better future. The journey so far has not been an easy one, but rather one with continuous learning, and I am sure beyond this as well, we shall march with confidence to bring about continuous progress and many accolades to our house as well as the school as a whole. Ultimately leadership is a privilege, not a right— a responsibility to serve, support and uplift others. By empowering, motivating and inspiring others, I believe we can achieve greatness together. I hope I leave no stone unturned to realise the vision of our progress for coming days hand in hand with all other immensely hardworking individuals.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru once said, “Life is like a game of cards. The hand dealt to you is determinism; the way you play it is free will.” Becoming the captain of Nehru house is a card that was dealt to me, and I’ll make sure to play it in the greatest of means. Leaders are nothing if not for their people. The members of this prestigious house have put their faith in me, and I can assure them that I won’t disappoint. The responsibility accompanying this badge is not a mere duty to me but a passion that burns brighter than the sun. Yellow is often associated with self-confidence, communication, intellect, and clarity. These ideals are the very essence of Nehru house. My duty as a captain is to guide them so they can forge their own paths while inculcating into them the values of this house as well as of our beloved school.

Together, we will uphold the values of discipline, teamwork, and respect, ensuring that the Loreto banner always flies high. With unwavering dedication, I step forward to serve, lead, and inspire; but not always with vision of winning, because it is not the destination that matters, but the voyage to be reminisced.

“Leader is the one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way” It is an honour and privilege to be appointed as the Captain of Tagore House for the academic year 2025-26. It is a matter of pride and joy to have been given the unique opportunity to render my services to the house. I feel proud to say that during my fourteen years in school I have been taught to have faith in Almighty and in myself to face a challenge with hustle and will power. Now that I have been given the responsibility of a House Captain I am endowed with an unquenchable thirst to make a huge difference. As we navigate through this academic year, I want to emphasize the importance of responsibility, accountability, and leadership. As students, we have a responsibility to ourselves, our teachers, and our school to perform to the best of our abilities. We must take ownership of our learning, our actions, and our decisions. Tagore house members have always stood up for what is right and this year also they will continue to do so. I consider my ability to arouse enthusiasm among people, the greatest asset I possess, and the way to develop the best that is in a person is by appreciation and encouragement.

With this belief in mind, I embrace the privilege of serving as the Vice-Captain of Tagore House—a house that is not just a name but a legacy of excellence, inspired by the values of Rabindranath Tagore: creativity, courage, and compassion. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, Mrs. Reetu Sharma, our esteemed Community Leader, Sister Apolina Lakra, my teachers and fellow schoolmates for placing their trust in my leadership and bestowing upon me this responsibility. Rabindranath Tagore, the embodiment of our ideals, once said, “Let us not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but to be fearless when facing them.” As a leader, I promise to uphold this spirit—to lead with courage, to guide with integrity, and to embrace challenges rather than shy away from them. Each one of us plays a vital role in this journey. Whether on the sports field, in academics, or in cultural events, let us give our best, uplift one another, and strive for excellence. True victory is not just about winning but about learning, growing, and standing together as a team. Let us make this year one to remember. Together, we will honour and uphold the legacy of the visionary we proudly represent—Rabindranath Tagore.
