RULES & DISCIPLINE

  • Enrolment in Loreto Convent, Tara Hall implies, on the part of parents and pupils, a willingness to comply with the requirements and regulations of the school.
  • The pupils of Loreto Convent Tara Hall are expected to behave in a lady-like manner on all occasions. They are to address all members of the staff and students with due respect and politeness. It is expected that they will show gentleness and courtesy to their companions. Refinement of manners, uprightness and self- restraint is to be the characteristic of every pupil of the school.
  • Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience or conduct injurious to the tone of the school are sufficient reasons for stern action against a student.
  • Parents are requested to co-operate with the work of the school by attending Parent-Teacher Meetings and carrying out school community service, according to one’s capacity.
  • Reports on general progress will be given to parents during the year. Promotion is granted on the basis of the whole year’s work of the pupil. Hence the importance of regularity in attendance and work. The decision of the school authorities with regard to promotion is final.
  • Any child caught cheating during a test or an exam will be given a zero.
  • Parents are requested to see that their children attend school punctually and to ensure that those who come to take children home are here at the hour of dismissal. No parents / servant / relative will be allowed into the school premises or permitted to take a child home without producing the child’s identity card. The school authorities are not responsible for pupils who are not called for at times of dismissal. The observance of these regulations is of vital importance for the safety of the children and for school discipline.
  • No pupil may leave the school premises without the permission of the Principal and the Gate Pass should be collected from the School Office.
  • Parents or guardians are not allowed to see their children or interview teachers during school hours except with the permission of the Principal and Section Mistress by previous appointment as members of the Staff may not leave the classroom during a teaching period.
  • Private tuition for children from any member of the School Staff is strictly forbidden. If a child needs private tuition the advice of the Principal is to be taken before such help is given.
  • No jewellery, only a pair of simple ear-rings may be worn. Only natural colour, transparent contact lenses are allowed. Hair may not be dyed and must be tied back or if short, a hair band must be worn.
  • Cell phones are forbidden in the school. No books, periodicals, pictures, newspapers or expensive pens, pencil boxes, water- bottles etc. shall be brought to school or circulated among the students. If a cell phone is found, it will be confiscated for the entire year and only returned to parents at the end of the school year. The school will not be held responsible for the safe custody of any such item. Personal property e.g. books, cardigans, bags etc. should bear the name of the owner.
  • Every pupil is expected to take part in all school activities. This regulation also applies when such activities take place out of school hours. It is compulsory for students to attend seminars / orientations, when organized.
  • Damage to school property must be remedied at the cost of the offender.
  • Parents are to give their children a snack & lunch daily. Buying eatables from street vendors or shops outside the school is prohibited. Health records will be maintained in school.
  • Visiting clubs, restaurants, theaters or strolling around in public places outside school hours in the school uniform is strictly prohibited. Breach of this discipline will be dealt with strongly.
  • Girls wearing school uniform are not to speak to boys on the street and parents are asked not to send young boys to school to collect their daughters.
  • Mehendi on the hand and colouring of hair are strictly forbidden, unless written permission has been granted by the Principal, after a written request has been given in advance. Any violation will lead to suspension till the colour wears off.
  • Collection of money in the school is not encouraged. Students are not permitted to give personal gifts to members of the staff. Distribution of gifts are not allowed. Children are to bring only toffees or boiled sweets for their classmates and teachers on their birthday. No bars of chocolates are permitted for anyone.
  • All correspondence regarding pupils should be neatly written and addressed to the Principal and sent in an envelope, or entered in the diary.
  • Parents are requested to notify the Principal of any change of address or telephone number.
